Trophies for the Sussex Masters Masters News by Jonny - 10th February 202213th February 20220 Despite the leagues and clubs making a slow start ‘back to normal’ play the tournament season has been very active with only the Annual ICC’s being cancelled at late notice due to the pandemic. Recent tournaments have seen high turnout and especially from our own masters. Here are some results from two of them. Results from the English Nationals (November 2021) and the West of England (January 2022) Tournaments have yet to be written up and hopefully to be reported in the near future. Trophies for Sussex Masters at Gold Tournament. Eighteen players in the O40’s to O70’s from Sussex entered the recent Kent Gold Masters Tournament in October 2021, taking 7 awards across the age groups. Phil Troke and his Kent partner were RU in the O40’s MD and won the O35’s MXD with his partner Top National player, from Hastings, Cathy Bargh retained her dominance in both O55’s Ladies Singles and Ladies Doubles. How does she do it? Sara Foster and her partner from Essex also retained their position as winners of the O50 MXD Sheila Perrin won the O70’s MD with her partner from Surrey, Former County O65 Captain William Brown came RU up in the O70’s MD with his partner from Middlesex Pamela Barden and her new partner came third in the O70 MXD The Sussex players were:- Wendy Arscott, Pam Barden, Cathy Bargh, Mark Burgeman, William Brown, Sheldon Chambers, Sara Foster, Wendy Gill, Vera Groves, Mitsuyo Kondo, Hugh Osborne, Sheila Perrin, Anna Prestwich, Oliver Smith, Chris Spice ,Mike Stoneman Trophies for Sussex Masters at Middlesex Masters Tournament Ten players from Sussex entered the recent Middlesex Masters held at The Dome, Hounslow on Sat 5th Feb. Five awards, across the age groups. were won by the following players.
