A solid over 55s team once again WON the South East – South Division in the Masters Championships and qualified for the playoffs next month in Hatfield.
Captain Colin Hayhurst steered his loyal and competitive team members to finish the season unbeaten! A great achievement, well done to you all.
Team members were Stewart Byne, Shahab Hashemi, Colin Hayhurst, Wendy Gill and Minnie Jones who played in all 6 matches. Big contributions were made by other squad members: Nick Chambers (who we welcomed back to Sussex Masters after a few years away playing Real Tennis), new squad member David Walter who made a big contribution in his first season playing Masters badminton, Cathy Bargh (who was unbeaten throughout the season), Karen Thomas, Lynne Phillips; Linda Byne (playing down from the 60s) and Louise Simmonds (playing for the O55 team for the first time).

The team will now play Essex in the Play Offs on 14th April at Hatfield – we wish them the best of luck and they have already made Sussex proud.
