O50 DIV 1B (EASTLEIGH)

The 50s stormed through their matches on Sunday: 4-0, 3-1 and 4-0.   The only focus was to reach Premier Division. A lovely evening in the spa, some great food and wine at the Norton Park on Saturday night and all raring to go on Sunday. 

Hampshire arrived with a slightly stronger team and the points were divided 2-2 in our first match.   Fortunately, Essex also had a draw so the title chase was still on…  A solid win against Wiltshire (3-1) meant the last match Essex v Sussex would be the decider … Essex – recently relegated from Premier, were looking to go straight back up again and that’s exactly what happened. 

Our ladies got us off to a great start again (Julie and Gretchen winning all their games over the weekend – well played to them), but it went downhill after that … the match finished 3-1 Essex and we’ll have to wait another year to get a go with the top dogs. A great weekend with a lovely bunch of people.
