Sean Newberry – The Bruce Peapbell Trophy Winner Juniors News Uncategorised by Jonny - 3rd July 20222nd October 20220 The SCBA committee announced the winner of the Bruce Peapbell trophy at their recent AGM. Sean Newberry was chosen to receive this and it will be presented at the Sussex Restricted in September. The Trophy is presented annually to some one who has made a valuable contribution to grass roots badminton, particularly for juniors. Bruce donated the trophy in 2008 and it has been awarded to the following coaches in previous years- 2008 Lorraine Collins 2009 Chris Byerley 2010 David Fletcher 2011 Tony Willmott 2012 Terry Bagwell 2013 Neil Warwick 2014 Janice Byerley 2015 Zeyar Win 2016 Sean Colbert 2017 Vicky Mowlem We thank Sean for his contribution and committment to badminton.
Rising Stars Event Details Uncategorised by Jonny - 14th May 202214th May 20220 Good evening and thank you for entering the Sussex County Rising Stars badminton tournament 2022. As you will know from the entry form we are attempting to run both a County and a Non-County event this year.We have had a good number of entries in nearly all of the singles categories and we are also able to run a doubles competition for most of the categories.With the the number of singles players entered, it is important that we commence the event on time and would ask that you are at the Dolphin Leisure Centre, Haywards Heath, RH16 1LY by 0900. There will be a briefing at this time and the matches will commence at 0915. In all of the singles events players will play in

Mark Allen Juniors News Masters News Seniors News Uncategorised by Jonny - 28th October 20202nd November 20200 It is with great sadness that I have to inform everyone of the passing of Mark Allen. Mark was a true champion of all things badminton especially Sussex Badminton, Mark was vice Chairman of the County for a number of years and officiating, Mark was the current Chairman of the Badminton Umpires of England. Mark’s passion for the game was boundless. It didn’t matter what level the game was being played at, be it local club or the Yonex All England, Mark’s love for the game always shone through. Personally I will greatly miss his common sense approach to badminton matters and the clarity that he brought to the many discussions that we had. As a County I would like to pass on our dearest thoughts to Maggie, Mark’s wife and his
